MeshTalk Privacy Policy
This policy explains how DarCloud LLC (“MeshTalk,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the MeshTalk Android application, package com.darcloud.meshtalk, and related services.
1. Information we handle
- Account information: your display name, username, optional profile biography, internal account identifier, and authentication credential needed to verify your passphrase.
- Messages and conversation data: direct and group text messages, group names, conversation membership, sender and recipient identifiers, and message creation, edit, deletion, and read-state timestamps.
- Safety information: users you block and reports you submit, including any report reason or content you choose to include.
- Search requests: usernames or terms sent to the service when you search for another user. Search terms are submitted in the request body, used only to return the current results, and are not stored in the application database.
- Basic network and security data: internet protocol address, request time, and similar request metadata processed by our hosting and network provider to deliver the service, maintain security, prevent abuse, and diagnose failures. We do not use this information for advertising or to build a location profile.
- Support requests: information you send when asking for help, reporting a safety issue, or requesting account deletion.
MeshTalk version 1 does not request access to your contacts, precise or approximate device location, camera, microphone, photos, videos, phone number, SMS, or payment information. It contains no advertising or third-party analytics SDK. If a later release adds a feature that handles new data, we will update this policy and the Google Play Data safety disclosure before release.
2. How we use information
We use information only as needed to:
- create and secure accounts, authenticate users, and maintain sessions;
- deliver direct and group messages and show conversation and read state;
- let users search for, block, and report other users;
- investigate abuse, enforce our Terms and Community Standards, and protect users and the service;
- respond to support, privacy, and account-deletion requests; and
- comply with applicable law and valid legal process.
We do not sell personal information and do not use MeshTalk information for targeted advertising.
3. Who receives information
- People you communicate with: your display name, username, optional profile biography, messages, edits, deletions, and relevant read state are shown to the people or groups you choose to interact with.
- Service provider: Cloudflare processes network traffic and hosts server-side application data in Cloudflare D1 on our behalf. Its processing is subject to our service agreement and its applicable privacy and security terms.
- Safety and legal recipients: we may disclose information when reasonably necessary to investigate abuse, protect someone from harm, comply with law, or respond to valid legal process.
- Business transfer: information may transfer as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to applicable law and notice requirements.
We do not share personal data with advertisers, data brokers, or analytics providers.
4. Security and message privacy
MeshTalk encrypts information in transit using TLS. Messages are stored on MeshTalk’s server-side Cloudflare D1 database so they can be delivered and synchronized. MeshTalk version 1 does not provide end-to-end encryption. This means authorized service operations may be technically capable of accessing stored message content when necessary for service operation, safety enforcement, or legal compliance.
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security. Never share your passphrase. Contact us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
5. Retention and deletion
We keep active account information and messages until the user deletes the relevant message or account. We also retain limited data when needed to enforce safety rules, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations:
- deletion started through the authenticated in-app control takes effect immediately in the active service;
- verified deletion requests submitted to support are processed without undue delay;
- Cloudflare D1 point-in-time recovery copies expire within no more than 30 days after active-service deletion; and
- a de-identified deletion receipt and safety or legal records may be retained for up to 24 months, or longer when a legal obligation or an ongoing safety matter requires it.
Deleting an individual message removes its content from the normal conversation view, but limited deletion metadata may remain where needed for consistency, abuse prevention, or legal compliance. Account deletion deletes the active account and stored message content and removes or irreversibly de-identifies other associated personal data, subject to the limited retention described above. 6. Your choices and rights
You can edit or delete your own messages, block or report users, log out, and delete your account from inside MeshTalk. You may also use our public deletion page without reinstalling the app. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information, or object to certain processing. We may verify a request before acting on it.
7. Children
MeshTalk version 1 is intended only for people age 18 or older and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly permit children below that age to create accounts. If you believe a child is using MeshTalk contrary to this rule, contact our child-safety team immediately. Read our Child Safety Standards.
8. International processing
DarCloud LLC primarily operates MeshTalk from the United States. MeshTalk and its service providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live. Where required, we use legally recognized safeguards for international transfers.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes to MeshTalk, our practices, or the law. We will post the updated date and provide additional notice when required. Material changes will not be applied retroactively where prohibited by law.
